Kamran Akmal withdraws from PSL 7 in protest of being selected in Silver category

LAHORE: Test cricketer Kamran Akmal has resigned from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in protest of being selected in the silver category for the 7th edition of the league. The season 7 drafting ceremony of Pakistan Super League was held at High Performance Center Lahore with the participation of franchise officials and players. For PSL 7, Peshawar Zalmi selected Kamran Akmal in the silver category, after which the 39-year-old Test cricketer announced his resignation from the PSL in protest.
Kamran Akmal said in a statement on social media that maybe I am no longer needed in the team, it is better for the franchise to give a chance to the youth than to cook in the silver category. “I was surprised when my category came from Platinum to Gold. I deserved the Gold category based on my performance in PSL but I was selected in Silver,” he said. The seventh edition of PSL should be played.
