US diplomat arrested for issuing fake passports

A few days ago, a Syrian man was arrested in Turkey who was trying to travel from Turkey to Germany on a fake passport. During interrogation, the detainee revealed that a US diplomat stationed at the US Consulate in Beirut had provided him with a fake passport for 10,000.
Following the revelations, Turkish security forces arrested the US ambassador to Istanbul and sent him to prison on Wednesday.
According to Turkish government officials, video evidence obtained during the interrogation showed the arrested US diplomat taking off his coat and handing over his passport to the Syrian man. It was in the light of this evidence that the US diplomat was arrested. However, no statement has been issued by US officials in this regard. It should be noted that in the last few years, there has been a clear strain in the diplomatic relations between Turkey and the United States. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recently ordered the deportation of the US ambassador to Turkey, after which diplomatic relations between the two countries became more strained.
